Is Earth Day Really Important?

"The march of a thousand miles begins with one step." Lao Tzu- Ancient Philosopher

We are approaching the celebration of our 40th Earth Day in this fair land.

Since it's inception in 1960, we have seen massive oil spills, the onslaught of increasing carbon emissions that continue to pollute our earth, thousands of new, untested chemicals introduced into our food, consumer products and air and enough electrical appliances, plastics and toxic chemicals thrown into landfills to endlessly wrap around the earth!

We live on an amazing planet that is begging for our attention and everyone CAN play a part! Yes, changing your lightbulbs, planting trees, recycling and reusing are steps we can ALL take, though we must not stop there.

"Mindful marketing", the concious decision to redirect your spending toward companies whose values and committment to restoring the health of the earth is essential. We, as consumers, need to SEE the connection between the manufacturer's values and practices and the choices we make to purchase and use those products....are they contributing to the harm or health of our planet? One such company, Shaklee Corporation, sets an exemplary standard for positive ecological and environmental impact on our tender planet. Shaklee led by example to be the first company in the WORLD to offset its carbon emissions by providing sustainable energy to electrify villages in Africa in partnership with Millenium Promise. Shaklee products are void of any chemicals, heavy metals, pesticides, dyes or other harmful contaminants to body and earth. All product packaging utilizes sustainable natural products, is recyclable, biodegradable, nontoxic and safe.

Make the choice to celebrate Earth Day, April 22, 2010. It is not just an arbitrary date on our calendar. It is a time to begin a daily practice of careful consideration when purchasing products that protect our bodies and honor the planet, even the simple choices. Support companies by spreading the word to your friends, family and social networks....they will hear your voices loud and clear!
